COVID-19 Closure:

Patrons 18 & older can register for a Hinton Municipal Library membership remotely by phone or online.

Completing the remote library registration form will allow you to access library resources temporarily for 2 months. We will need you to visit us in person to pick up your physical library card and show a piece of government ID with your Hinton or Yellowhead County address listed. At that time, we can change your membership to a full-year standard access account. 

Library Memberships:

CHILD CARD - FREE with a lending limit of any 40 items

ADULT CARD - FREE with a lending limit of any 40 items

TEMPORARY LOCAL LIBRARY CARD - FREE (expires after 6 months) with a lending limit of any 5 LOCAL LIBRARY items ONLY

To access your account or use online resources enter your barcode (with no spaces) and your PIN (last four digits of your phone number).

Loan Periods, Renewals & Overdues

Bring your library card with each visit to borrow items. The following loan periods and overdues apply:

  • Library materials can be renewed twice unless the item is reserved for another patron.
  • You may place a hold of 30 items on your account.
  • Visit the library or phone (780) 865-2363 during library hours to renew library material or renew online.
  • Overdue charges apply to late returns. There is a 2 day grace period for overdue items.
  • Library materials may be returned anytime in the Bookdrop.
  • Ask Library Staff for extended vacation loans.

Circulating Magazines

  • Magazines for borrowing include back issues of most titles.
  • Items marked as NEW are for in library use only -- these items include newspapers, newsletters, current issues of magazines, and all Consumer Reports.
Innovation Bins & Games

Bins and games must be checked out with a valid Library card and are for in-Library use only.

Innovation Bins that can be signed out include: Little Bits, Virtual Reality Headsets, Keva Makers, Dash Robots, Nintendo Switch, Inductive Cars, Button Maker, Meccano, Makey,Makey & Stickbot.

Board games include: Rivals for Catan, Taboo, Twister, Jenga, Monopoly, Sorry, Trouble, Connect4, Chess, Scrabble and more.

Lost Cards

Please notify the library immediately if your library card is lost or stolen. The card can then be cancelled to prevent others from using it. Your membership card can be replaced for a nominal fee.
