Patrons of all ages can register for a Hinton Municipal Library membership in person or remotely by phone or online.

Completing the remote library registration form will allow you to access library resources temporarily for 2 months. We will need you to visit us in person to pick up your physical library card and show a piece of government ID with your Hinton or Yellowhead County address listed. At that time, we can change your membership to a full-year standard access account.

TEMPORARY LOCAL LIBRARY CARD - FREE (expires after 6 months) with a lending limit of any 5 LOCAL LIBRARY items ONLY

To access your account or use online resources enter your barcode (with no spaces) and your PIN (last four digits of your phone number).

Loan Periods, Renewals & Overdues

Bring your library card with each visit to borrow items. The following loan periods apply:

  • Library materials can be renewed twice unless the item is reserved for another patron.
  • You may place a hold of 30 items on your account.
  • Visit the library or phone (780) 865-2363 during library hours to renew library material or renew online.
  • There is a 30 day grace period for overdue items. Items that have not been returned for 30 days will be marked as lost and result in a replacement fee for the patron
  • Library materials may be returned anytime in the bookdrop.

Circulating Magazines

  • Magazines for borrowing include back issues of most titles.
  • Items marked as NEW are for in library use only -- these items include newspapers, newsletters, current issues of magazines, and all Consumer Reports.

ME Libraries

ME Libraries gives you access to free Alberta-wide public library borrowing! When you sign up online, you'll be able to visit libraries across the province and borrow materials--using your local library card! All materials are picked up at the owning library but you can return them to any ME library. ME Libraries only work with physical materials, so online resources and interlibrary loan services are not included. Who can sign up? Adults (18+) with a local library card in good standing and with an email address on the account. 

Interlibrary Loans: Alberta Relais

Relais is the new way to place Interlibrary Loans (ILL) in Alberta, brought to you by the Alberta Public Library Services Branch (PLSB). To access Relais, just go to and select Yellowhead Regional Library as your location.

Lost Cards

Please notify the library immediately if your library card is lost or stolen. The card can then be cancelled to prevent others from using it. Your membership card can be replaced for a $2 fee.
